2018 GENERAL ASSEMBLY SPECIAL SESSION
Today, the Indiana General Assembly met for a one-day Special Session. At 9:00 a.m., Speaker of the House Brian Bosma gaveled the House into session. The Special Session was limited to five bills, and the House debated the bills for over three hours. At 12:30 p.m. the House had completed its work and sine died.
The Senate began a little after 1:00 p.m. and passed all five bills. They sine died at 3:31 p.m.
The five bills that passed today during the Special Session were:
HB 1230: School safety. House vote: 96-1; Senate vote: 47-1
HB 1242: State and local administration. House vote: 74-20; Senate vote: 40-8
HB 1315: School corporation financial management. House vote: 63-30; Senate vote: 34-14
HB 1316: Taxes and higher education bonding. House vote 75-22; Senate vote: 40-8
HB 1457: Technical corrections. House vote: 94-0; Senate vote: 46-2

DISNEY INSTITUTE EVENT
The LaPorte Community School Corporation is a partner with the Greater LaPorte Chamber of Commerce who have agreed to host a Disney Institute event on June 5, 2018 at the Purdue Northwest Westville campus to bring the school corporation and the community partners together.
