GENERAL ASSEMBLY ACTIVITIES
Senate Appropriations Committee
On Thursday morning at 9:00 am in Room 431, the Senate Appropriations Committee will hear HB 1003, school corporation expenditure targets. The bill creates a guideline that only 15% of the total revenues in the Education should be transferred to the Operation Fund. There are no penalties in the bill. HB 1003 was heard in the Senate Education Committee and then recommitted to the Appropriations Committee. There will be no public testimony on Thursday. IASBO anticipates that the bill will be substantially amended by the committee.
House Floor Action
Yesterday, the House passed SB 2, school bus safety, by a vote of 88-0. The bill was created as a result of the tragic school bus accident in northern Indiana. SB 2 was amended in the House and Senator Head will determine if the bill will go to a conference committee later in the session.
DISCUSSION MEETINGS WITH JENNIFER MCCORMICK
State Superintendent of Public Instruction Jennifer McCormick will be holding two informational meetings in April. On April 16, she will be speaking at the Avon Middle School North Auditorium from 6:30-8:00 pm and on April 18 she will be at the Ivy Tech Coliseum Campus Auditorium from 6:30 -8:30 pm.
